Some fun things the past few weeks

Fugro Chinese New Year Luncheon. Ten course meal followed by games until 4PM, then everyone got to leave for the day! Completely unexpected day... I thought the luncheon was just in the office, had no idea about the games or the short day. What a great surprise! some photos from the luncheon. i did have some photos from the lunch but i think they are on my memory stick i'll have to upload them later.

The casino debacle. Well, i already wrote about how i couldnt get into the casino and i wore zippered pouches as shoes. well, on the day we got out early for the CNY lunch, me liong and moe decided to go to the casino again. good news we didn't have to wait in line. bad news is a i lost ANOTHER $90 (on top of the $100 i already lost). i was actually up quite a bit, and then liong came over to see how i was doing and as soon as he came over i lost all my chips in about 4 minutes. i blame him. a week later, while in the area going to the japanese equivalent of the dollar store and watching the singapore Idol competition (which was amazing by the way... asians love michael jackson!!), i was so sour about losing all that money i decided to give it another whirl. so i took the little tram over to the casino, went in with $100. i had to wait a REALLY long time to get a seat at the table. progressive poker. there were people holding seats with thier chips while they went to the restroom. that would never fly in vegas. anyways, i finally get a seat. i bet the minimum ($10), and put an additional $10 in the bonus square. my first hand, A-K. because i put money in the bonus square, i automatically won 15X the bet (so $150), and i also won the hand so another $40. so my very first hand i won (net) $190. exactly the amount i had lost. so after one hand, i got up, cashed out my chips, and left. mission accomplished.

last weekend a bunch of us went minigolfing and bowling! what a fun day! here are some pics below.

we had a going awat dinner for me at my fave thai restaurant near the office. we had a big round table and everyone from my group came. we had a lot of food and a lot of laughs. i'm going to miss everyone so much!

on my last day i brought in some hot, fresh, muffins from the nearby market. they were so yummy. i showed everyone my scrapbook and said goodbye to everyone that was in the office. i was pretty much working up to the last minute, reviewing the final report for the project i've been working on for the past 4 months. its such mixed feelings. the group of people in this office is really amazing and it's just like a family. i feel sad to leave all my new friends and coworkers, but at the same time i'm looking forward to returning to california. the other onshore peeps gave my a lovely card and a bunch of small thoughtful gifts. it's a good thing i bought another suitcase here otherwise i'd be in trouble!!

It's been such a great experience, both professionally and personally, and i've thoroughly enjoyed my time here. i've had the opportunity to learn some new working practices, a new culture, some great travel experiences, and lifelong friends. one more post after this one and then i'll be signing off until the next adventure.
